More about HCT’s Little Shop of HorrorsLittle Shop of Horrors is a beloved cult classic that combines humor, horror, and catchy tunes into an unforgettable musical experience. The story follows Seymour Krelborn played by newcomer Jacob Simon, a down-on-his-luck florist who discovers a strange and unusual plant that he names Audrey II, played by the larger-than-life Morgan Sinclair. However, Audrey II isn't just any plant; it has a sinister appetite for human blood, leading Seymour down a dangerous path of greed, deception, and murder. While traditionally the plant Audrey II has been portrayed on stages by a large plant puppet, HCT has re-conceptualized the character and will be presenting the plant as a live actor. A unique experience that audiences will likely not have seen anywhere else.

As the plant grows, so does its demand for more blood, and a flora-filled feeding frenzy ensues. With the effortlessly captivating Oliva Randall as Audrey and long time acting-force Michael Culp as the plant shop owner, Mr. Mushnik, the production is a smash! The show’s mix of dark comedy, romance, and memorable songs like "Suddenly, Seymour" and "Feed Me," make this show a thrilling roller coaster that will have you laughing, gasping, and clapping along.

A Set Design That Transforms Before Your Eyes – One of the standout elements of this production is the innovative set design by scenic designer Mark Bryant. Mark, who grew up attending Broadway shows in New York City and spent 25 years in Hollywood building tv sets, screening rooms, and studio exec offices, brings a cleverness and whimsy to the film-noir inspired streets of Skid Row. The 16 panel set, hand-drawn in chalk paint, rearranges itself like a giant black and white jigsaw puzzle into each new environment with the simple turn of a wall, creating a dynamic and seamless flow between scenes. From the gritty Skid Row flower shop to the eerie dentist’s office, each set piece transforms, allowing the audience to be fully absorbed in the story’s shifting moods and settings. Mark says one of his favorite scenes is “the terrifying dental office, which is everything you hated about going to the dentist as a kid.”

A Must-See Experience for Theatre Lovers – "We’re so excited to bring this version of Little Shop of Horrors to our stage," says Director, Jim Griffin. "We’ve taken this iconic show and infused it with the funk and grit of the 1960’s that honors the original while giving it a distinctive style of its own. The combination of our incredible cast, stunning set design, and the timeless horror story makes this a production you won’t want to miss."

“The stylized music, reminiscent of the 60’s, is enhanced by the talents of six women who provide commentary and back up support in a kind of soulful Greek chorus,” says Music Director, Sue Ann Culp With tight vocal harmonies and choreography styled after iconic female groups like the Supremes, these ladies add a layer of musical richness to the score that is sure to delight the audience.”
