More about HCT’s Suite Surrender – A sparkling homage to screwball comedy, this fast-paced farce delivers sharp wit, physical comedy, and just enough innuendo for a laugh-filled night out. Sue Ann Culp’s perfection-obsessed Claudia McFadden and Margretta Dumas’s free-spirited Athena Sinclair clash spectacularly, while Tim VanBruggen’s frazzled Mr. Dunlap tries to keep the peace amid scheming bellhops, a nosy reporter, and mounting absurdity. The production is delightful theatrical mayhem from start to finish. Audiences are held in suspense wondering: what will happen when these rival stars discover they’re sharing the same suite? Will the hotel survive the drama? The answer is as unexpected as it is hilarious.
HCT is excited to transport audiences with an extraordinary set designed by Mark Bryant, evoking the elegance of a grand 1940s Florida resort. Every detail of the suite’s furniture and décor was carefully curated by Stephanie Higginbottom, owner of Saugatuck Antique Pavilion, whose eye for vintage glamour brings the world of the play vividly to life on stage
Director, Michael T. Culp, shared his own excitement for the production, saying, “This show has just been a blast to put together. Watching these actors bring their characters to life and seeing it all click into place over the last few weeks has been incredibly rewarding. It’s truly been a team effort, and we couldn’t have done it without the amazing support of the HCT community. Audiences should come ready to laugh out loud with us.”
